  1. Me 262 GUNNERY PRACTICE

  3. As the world's first operational jet to
  4. see combat, the Me 262 ushered in a new
  5. era of aviation.  The 262's top speed of
  6. 515 mph was nearly 80 mph faster than 
  7. the P-51 Mustang.  Although not as 
  8. maneuverable as piston-engined fighters, 
  9. the Messerschmitt jet relied on its 
  10. superior speed to sweep through enemy 
  11. formations faster than pursuing aircraft.

  13.                     YOUR MISSION

  15. Your Me 262 is approaching a formation
  16. of four B-17s from the rear.  Flying at 
  17. over 500 mph, your jet's high rate of 
  18. closure on the bombers (flying at 160 
  19. mph) means that you'll usually need to 
  20. make stern attacks.  Bring the 262's
  21. four 30-mm cannons to bear on the
  22. bombers as you perfect your gunnery
  23. techniques.  Once you are past the 
  24. bombers, break in a different direction 
  25. and continue to evade their 
  26. defensive gunfire until you're out of 
  27. range.  Then, line up for another pass.

  29. Your Me 262 cannot be damaged and has 
  30. unlimited ammunition.
